A WHOLE CITY OF GINGERBREAD.

Gingerbread City

Gingerbread City

What a great way to start the new year with the opportunity to visit the gingerbread city exhibition in V&A Museum, London. I am such a sucker for model making and so I definitely appreciated this exhibition, particularly because it involved food too.

A great way to unify the architecture world with productions from many of the big firms as well as small, this was the perfect way to bring us together as one. Some key gingerbread structures that really stoodd out to me were the ones I guess I expected to be much better. Of course, I am not aware of the time frame that were given to each firm to produce but i was in awe with the effort put in by smaller firms, using sugar to make windows, effective lighting, and machinery in adding moving elements. You know whilst walking around and admiring, the material of gingerbread is not just the focal point anymore, its the combination of this with other methods of model making, the beautiful smell and the reaction to adults and kids when they see a structure. It was truly a great experience and one a recommend to do when it comes again, being that it is a seasonal event, unfortunately. Nevertheless, look out for the next one!

All information regarding the event can be found at:

Get out there and explore!

Love,

Your Archihooter.
