UTILISING YOUR TIME.

I think I’ve always been that person that’s been doing something weird in their summer or off on an adventure abroad. I think this stems from the encouragement of my mother, who did the same within her 20s. I think this is an important attribute to obtain particularly to making you open your eyes to the world, what it has to offer and the great things that are available to us as creatives.

A few examples of ways you can utilise your time, especially as a student!

1. Get a part-time job. A part-time job would be considered reasonably easy to a) apply and get, and b) to work around your studies. Not only will it fill your time, but you’ll be able to earn some money to fund your studies and social life. 2. Start a project, hobby or learn something now. Projects, such as creating a blog or a website, can be a productive way to spend your time because you will gain something from it. It will also be something that you can add to your CV.

3. Do something you wouldn't normally do. Now I am not saying to go wild here but step out of your comfort zone and go and do something you wouldn't do on your normal day, this could be from painting, to going on vacation or simply going to an attraction within your city. Take the chance and do it on a whim! not everything has to planned or scheduled.

4. You would not believe what your university has to offer, it will actually surprise you, if you ask around in the right department and even if you have left there are university opportunities available to those in the alumni

Some universities have schemes, opportunities to work, volunteer work, or awards that can be completed and opportunities to get money to start a business.

5. Travel! This does not mean you have to leave the city your within. Go see the sites, you would be surprised what has changed whilst you've been working. You can go abroad if you want to though, a new destination is just as great!

I recently used a free day this month to walk around London and visit all the major museums with a friend. This is something I like to do every couple of years or so just to see if things change( in sure they have) and to experience new aspects of London that is for sure changing. The main museum we wanted to visit was that of Sir John Soane to see the Studio Mutt collection. Now if you are london, you have got to visit this, I have been keeping up with the studio on social media and I really love what they are doing in terms of challenging what everyone World would assume architecture to be, really large built structures. You could say they still do this but it is definitely in a really unique way. The exhibition itself takes insight from the transcripts written by Sir John Soane and is titled Out of Character designed to represent fictional characters and the choice of location for each structure is strategically placed according to the characteristics they represent. Its so fresh to see this amoungst old relics and artifacts collected by that of John Soane over so many years ago, it really rejuvinates the space, makes a spectator think deeply and in person, is truly striking. This is a must see.

THE MAGICIAN

THE MONK

THE LAWYER

The Lawyer |Studio Mutt

THE ARCHITECT Four amazing structures supported by insightful posters that give insight into what each one represents visually so we as the onlookers can construct our own interpretations. I fell in love with the monk, situated it what was once the monks Parlour in the house. We walked into the room and didn’t even notice it, then we walked in again, went to the end and peeped to the left. The structure was tucked into the wall, invisible if not meaning to look for it.

Check out Studio Mutt at Studiomutt.com and Sir John Soane Museum to experience it! Truly Amazing!
