MASTERS | DOING WHAT YOU LOVE.

You know now that I’ve completed my masters, there is this great sense of relief that cannot be described. I guess one would have to live it, in order to explain. Even for those not in education, the same feeling can be applied with the moments when you leave a work place or role you really hated or left the education system and decided to venture on to whatever you enjoy doing. Whether that be travelling or on to another job. That sense of relief is something, isn’t it?! Now I never hated university, it was tough and stressful particularly studying a course like architecture. But I must say, It was actually one of my best life experiences, particularly this time round in studying my masters.

It’s important to celebrate achievements and boy was my masters a big one. Not because I got a top grade, or because I learnt how to tackle it better. My masters was a totally different feeling to my bachelors degree. I think for the most part, it was the period that I can really can say I enjoyed living, breathing and doing architecture. Even the parts that I would once have considered shitty. (I have always been crap at history & technology) & funny enough even these ‘shitty areas’ were the ones that I actually did pretty well in! Now I am not saying I have all the answers or I know what to do. Shit, I bearly knew when to eat or sleep. Yet one of the main things I told myself when I was going back to study was: ‘NATALIE, You are going to try your damn best in this shit, you’re going to make a difference and most importantly... You did not pay 9000 grand to not get what you damn well deserve.’ Those uni fee numbers will really slap you in the face when you think about your expenditure! But the point I am making is not to do with money it’s to do with getting your money worth. When I went back I told myself not to make the mistake of not choosing a tutor wisely. Pick one that will have time and energy for you, one you can consult should you need to. If you’re lucky in can be both work and personal related. _____ I told myself what I do not know- I will find out - there’s nothing worse than not understanding. There will always be someone within university that can help. Just ask. ______ I will utilise all my avenues, university isn’t just for studying. Depending on the university you go to, there are various avenues you can take. (But I’ll another post, as it’s something I wish I knew when I was younger). _____ The list could go on in explaining all the tips and as a result of my journey, it led me to start Archihoot! One of my main aims in starting this platform was to explain my journey, what I would have done differently, what I enjoyed, what I recommend, what they don’t tell you and what I would have told my damn younger self! So join the Archihoot journey! Plenty of posts to come.
